Profile and Memberships of Martin J. Beres, Attorney At Law:

My practice has included a significant criminal appellate caseload since I was admitted into practice in the Michigan and Federal courts in 1976. Since 1993, I have limited my law practice exclusively to Michigan and Federal criminal appellate and post-conviction practice.

I have had over 400 decisions rendered in appellate court cases since 1993, in which I was the principal attorney of record. I have personally handled over 1,000 criminal appellate cases over the course of my practice, the majority of which have been appeals from capital felony convictions, and include over 125-homicide cases. I have extensive experience in state MCR 6.500, Federal 28 U.S.C. § 2254, and 28 U.S.C. § 2255, motion practice and related evidentiary hearings.

My professional affiliations have included the Criminal Defense Attorneys of Michigan, American Bar Association, Criminal Justice Section; Michigan State Bar, Criminal Law, Prisons & Corrections, and Appellate Practice sections; (Michigan) State Appellate Defender.
