SADO - Defendants’ constitutional right to present (otherwise) inadmissible evidence

Time: April 15, 2025 - 12-1:30pm
Location: Zoom

Please join SADO's Criminal Defense Resource Center for their virtual lunchtime training on Defendants’ constitutional right to present (otherwise) inadmissible evidence with SADO's Steven Helton and Jackie McCann.

When and how does the constitutional right to present a defense trump the rules of evidence? We will discuss how criminal defendants' constitutional rights can prevail over evidentiary rules that otherwise exclude hearsay, witnesses’ prior convictions and juvenile adjudications, evidence of third-party guilt and evidence within the rape shield statute, etc.

Attorney-focused trainings are scheduled for the third Tuesday of the month, and investigator-focused trainings are scheduled for the first Thursday of the month. Of course, anyone who works on a defense team is welcome at any training. And if you miss a session, everything will be recorded and posted to our video archive. Check out the flyer for additional information and online registration.
