CDAM’s acclaimed A is for Attorney (AIFA) program was created by veteran defense attorneys Lisa Kirsch Satawa and James R. Samuels to provide new lawyers with the tools and confidence needed to begin practicing criminal defense. This immersive and dynamic, hands-on training goes beyond lecture. Participants will observe live demonstrations and actively practice key defense skills in real-time scenarios. From client interviews and arraignments to reviewing discovery, issue spotting, preliminary examinations, deviation and mitigation, motion practice, pleas, and sentencing – you won’t just watch, you’ll do. The morning session focuses on criminal procedure, with guided exercises and a working lunch. The afternoon session is fully interactive, featuring on-your-feet trial skills training. Participants will engage in every phase of trial practice – from voir dire to closing arguments – under the mentorship of experienced faculty.
AIFA’s faculty includes seasoned attorneys Lisa Kirsch Satawa and James R. Samuels, along with Rhonda Ives, Tiffany DeBruin, Karl P, Numinen, and Elizabeth LaCosse. (Faculty may vary by session).
AIFA is a must-have for any new attorney preparing to step into the courtroom.
