SADO seeks summer interns
Applications are due by 1/15/2027 at 5pm
The Michigan State Appellate Defender Office (SADO) seeks first- and second- year law students committed to public defense, racial equity, and social justice to join our Direct Appeals Unit, Juvenile Lifer Unit (JLU), Criminal Defense Resource Center (CDRC), or Michigan Appellate Assigned Counsel System (MAACS) for internship opportunities during the Summer of 2027.
SADO is a hybrid work environment, and interns will have the opportunity to work remotely and in-person in either SADO's Detroit or Lansing offices. There is also the potential for client visits and court attendance throughout Michigan. The internship programs will run from late May through August 2027. Precise dates are flexible and will be determined by the school's academic calendar and program. Due to limited resources, our internship opportunities are currently unpaid. We encourage applicants to seek funding from their academic institutions or third-party funders.

Applications are due by January 15, 2027, at 5pm.
