Allow Roadside Testing for Controlled Substances
SB 718 would amend MCL 257.625t to authorize the state police to establish a pilot program for roadside drug testing to determine whether an individual is operating a vehicle while under the influence of a controlled substance. The bill authorizes the pilot program for one year and requires the state police to submit a report to the Legislature within 90 days of the completion of the pilot program. The Senate passed the bill on March 17, 2020.

Modify SORA Requirements
HB 5679 would amend numerous sections of the Sex Offenders Registration Act to modify the requirements under the act. The bill was introduced in the House on March 17, 2020.
Modify Vehicle Violations
HBs 5685 – 5691 would amend various statutes in the Motor Vehicle Code to modify vehicle violations. For example, HB 5685 would amend various statutes to make driving an unregistered vehicle a civil infraction rather than a misdemeanor. The bills were introduced in the House on March 17, 2020.
