Civil/Criminal Division Overview
The civil/criminal division of the Washtenaw County Trial Court is the 22nd Circuit Court of general jurisdiction in Washtenaw County. This division has jurisdiction over all actions except those given by state law to another court. Generally speaking, the civil/criminal division has original jurisdiction in all civil cases involving more than $25,000, and in all criminal cases where the offense involves a felony or certain serious misdemeanors.
The civil/criminal division also hears cases appealed from Washtenaw County’s Probate Court and District Courts, and from some administrative agencies of state government.

Preliminary exams are usually held at the 14A courthouse at Washtenaw and Hogback.
Juvenile Court
The Juvenile Court is a division of the Washtenaw County Trial Court. There are two major categories of cases which must be filed at the Juvenile Court and are typically handled at the Courthouse.
