Local Success: John W. Ujlaky - September, 2015
John W. Ujlaky had multiple successes in the past few months, including the setting aside of a no contest plea in a second-degree child abuse case in the 10th Judicial (Saginaw County) Circuit Court. The defendant was a fourth habitual offender, was on parole, and the plea agreement erroneously provided for a sentence concurrent to the earlier sentence. Mr. Ujlaky also obtained a stipulation from the prosecutor in Eaton County for an additional 8 days of sentence credit for a client. He was also successful in getting restitution reductions in several files in August 2015. In one case, restitution was reduced from $25,000.00 to $12,510.00. In another case, restitution was reduced from $30,000.00 to $17,510.00. Mr. Ujlaky also obtained a reduction after resentencing in a case in the 14th Judicial (Muskegon County) Circuit Court, reducing the minimum sentence from 16 years to 7 years.
