MAACS Now Hiring Full-Time Deputy Administrator

The Michigan Appellate Assigned Counsel System (MAACS) seeks a full-time Deputy Administrator to work in Lansing, Michigan. The Deputy Administrator will report directly to the MAACS Administrator.
MAACS administers the appointment of appellate counsel in all Michigan counties, from a roster of approximately 150 private attorneys and the State Appellate Defender Office (SADO). MAACS and SADO merged for management purposes in 2014.

Responsibilities:
- Monitoring compliance by roster attorneys with MAACS regulations and minimum standards
- Investigating and resolving inquiries and complaints regarding roster attorneys
- Conducting thorough retention reviews of roster attorney performance
- Providing case-related advice to roster attorneys
- Assisting in the development and delivery of appropriate training to MAACS roster attorneys
- Assisting the MAACS Administrator in other administrative responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications: The Deputy Administrator is a licensed attorney with at least three years of experience handling criminal appeals or public defense assignments. Advanced technical skills and writing abilities are essential. Prior judicial clerkship experience is preferred.
Starting salary: $88,000 plus fringe benefits including health, dental, vision, life, 401k, and paid holidays.
