Opinion: Judge used legal system to mistreat a child
Detroit News, September 9, 2024
On September 9, SADO youth defense attorneys Taylor Fellows, Maya Menlo, and Joshua Pease published an op-ed in the Detroit News, responding to recent news of a Detroit judge ordering a 15-year old girl to wear a jail uniform and be handcuffed for falling asleep during a school field trip to the judge's courtroom.
Fellows, Menlo, and Pease called this "one of the many instances where the legal system criminalizes normal teenage behavior," and explained that they are working to address these injustices until they no longer exist.
You can read the full op-ed here.
